ST. JOHNS RIVER HERITAGE BOAT TOUR & LUNCH AT COOK’S IN DELAND
NOTE: THIS TOUR WAS RESCHEDULED FROM SEP. 5 DUE TO HURRICANE DORIAN.
If you are a nature lover who enjoys bird watching and all forms of wildlife, this tour is for you! After observing Hontoon Island State Park, the boat tour continues south and then passes by Lake Beresford, Blue Spring State Park and through an historic cypress logging canal. The tour exits the canal into a tributary—Hontoon Dead River for the return trip to Hontoon. On the tour, you will see the natural beauty of the unspoiled and original Florida – in the same pristine condition it has been over the centuries. Along with the tranquility of the St. Johns River, you will also see abundant wildlife, including alligator, Anhinga, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Osprey, turtles and much, much more. There are frequent sightings of manatee. Your tour will be a nature lover’s and photographer’s paradise.
The St. Johns River is the longest river in Florida at a whopping 310 miles long. It flows North through 12 counties, moving from Central Florida to the Atlantic Ocean. At its largest point, the St. Johns River is almost 3 miles wide! In honor and recognition of its role in history and society, President Clinton named the St. Johns River an American Heritage River in 1998. Come with us to enjoy this relaxing, narrated tour of her shaded backwaters, a delicious lunch at Cook’s and a little “retail therapy” added just for fun! You won’t believe the nice shops in DeLand now!
